Traditional Orphans’ Iftar at Assalam Ecovillage

During Ramadan, our tables at Assalam are never empty. Every evening, families, students, neighbors, and travelers gather to break their fast together — sometimes in the city, sometimes in the villages of Zanzibar.

One of the most special moments of the month is our Traditional Orphans’ Iftar, where hundreds of children come together to share the joy of Ramadan.

This year, we will welcome almost 1,000 orphan children from across Zanzibar at Assalam Ecovillage in Kizimkazi. Together we will sit at the same table, share our iftar, spend time together, and celebrate the spirit of Ramadan as one community.

After the meal, the children will also receive their Eid gifts, making the evening even more meaningful for them.

Events like this reflect what Assalam is about:
bringing people together, sharing what we have, and making sure every child feels part of the community.

We warmly invite friends, supporters, and guests to join us for this special evening.
