Small Things That Protect Health
For many families in Zanzibar, something as simple as soap is not always easy to afford. When daily needs are difficult to meet, hygiene products are often the first things families go without.
Yet small things can make a big difference.
Simple habits like washing hands properly can help protect children and families from many preventable illnesses.
Through the Assalam Hygiene Support Project, we provide both hygiene education and locally produced organic soap to families who need it most.
This way, families gain practical knowledge while also receiving the basic products they need to maintain healthy hygiene practices.

Learning Healthy Habits

A key part of the programme is community hygiene education.
During these sessions, families learn practical habits such as:
• Proper handwashing
• Everyday hygiene practices
• Simple ways to prevent illness
The soap distributed through the project is produced by local community members trained in Assalam’s soap-making workshops, supporting both hygiene and local livelihoods.
Special attention is given to orphanages and children with higher health vulnerabilities, who benefit greatly from safe hygiene practices.
How You Can Help?
Your support allows us to provide hygiene education and essential hygiene products to families who need them most.
€10
provides hygiene support for one family, including 5 organic soap bars.
€100
supports hygiene products for an orphanage caring for around 50 children living with HIV.
Even a small contribution can help protect the health of many children and families.
